COMPANY BACKGROUND

Greetings, and welcome to World Wide Sports Performance, the site that provides to you the ultimate in sports training! I am excited that you have taken the time to visit us, and that you are considering the new and exciting world of online training. This site is a concept that I have thought about for years. It is a concept born out of a number of different experiences in my sports life, one that I have thought about building for years, and one that I believe can hold a special place in the growing sports training world.

I think back to my years as a high school football player, when I first considered starting a weight training program to hopefully put on a little bit of weight and prepare myself for the demands of the sport. I had friends that were members of the local Gold’s Gym, and who had the means to hire personal trainers to set up exercise programs for them. Unfortunately, this was not an option for my parents and me. There was no shortage of desire, just a shortage of funds! As a result, I began visiting the high school’s weightroom three times per week and joining the school’s powerlifting club. It got me involved in a structured plan, but parts were missing. As I look back with an “educated sports training eye,” I realize now that this only addressed a few of the components of well-rounded program, and I was not fully preparing myself for what I wanted to accomplish as an athlete. For all of the consistency, hard work, and dedication I put in, the program could have been better…

Fast forward to now, when, in the last decade, I have had the very fortunate opportunity to work as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for numerous high-level organizations. From the college ranks in Division I, to the NFL and the NBA, to an amazing independent training center, I have seen first-hand how a well-designed program can do amazing things to improve the sports, and life, experience. It is a matter of improving athleticism. Sports ask a lot of its participants… explosiveness combined with balance; speed combined with body control; strength combined with flexibility; and intensity combined with composure. Simply put, before you can be a successful participant within your sport, you must first be a great athlete. With young clients in particular, I have even seen wonderful changes way beyond those that will help in competition; positive changes in attitude, self-confidence, leadership ability, and character. These are qualities that we all should value and continually seek to develop and improve. A sound training program truly is “the key that helps unlock the door to opportunity and success.” I’ve long considered the ways that I could deliver this key to many others… this is how the site was born.

So I bring to you, World Wide Sports Performance… a resource for the driven individual that seeks the ultimate! This company’s mission is to be the top web-based sports training and fitness company, which provides the programming, education, and “distanced instruction” to all of our clients that desire to improve their place in sports performance and health. It is my hope that this site becomes your ally in your own personal quest to find and achieve all of your sports-related goals!

Yours in Strength,

Jesse Wright, CSCS

FOUNDER'S BIOGRAPHY

Jesse Wright, CSCS is the Founder and President of World Wide Sports Performance.  His sports experience, leadership ideas, and overall training philosophies have roots in his years as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and as Director of one of the country’s top sports training organizations.  His biography reads as follows…

AMAZING EXPERIENCES AT A YOUNG AGE…

Jesse received his degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.   During his final two years of Undergraduate study there, he also served as one of the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coaches for the Athletic Department.  At 20 years old, he was hired as the youngest S & C Coach in the Atlantic 10 and Big East Conferences, while overseeing the programming for the Track and Field, Softball, and Women’s Gymnastics teams, and assisting in the implementation of the Football and Women’s Basketball team programs.  Upon completing his degree, Jesse spent a year with the Philadelphia Eagles, first as an intern, then as an Assistant S & C Coach.  For his performance there, he was recommended to the NFL-Europe league in the Spring of 2000, where he held his first Head S & C Coach position, with the Barcelona Dragons.  Hired at 23 years old, he still remains youngest Strength Coach in league history.  The conclusion of this seasonal position overseas led him to Hofstra University, where he served as the Head S & C Coach for the football team during the 2000 season.  Five players from this squad are currently playing professional football, either in the NFL, NFL-Europe, Arena Football, or Canadian Football Leagues.   In the years of 1999 through 2001, Jesse also served as the Personal Trainer and Consultant for Marc Jackson, now currently playing in the NBA for the New Orleans Hornets.

A YEAR AWAY FROM TRAINING COULDN’T HAVE BEEN MORE VALUABLE…

In 2001, Jesse took time away from the Strength and Conditioning world to gain valuable hands-on business experience with an internet-based sporting goods company, JustBalls, Inc.  He served a multi-faceted position with the organization, involved in sales, product development, and product sourcing & buying for the year that he spent with the company.  With how the next few years would play out, this year in the “start-up” business world served as an invaluable growing and learning experience.  The day-to-day responsibilities, challenges, and working knowledge of an internet company just getting off the ground served as a learning platform upon which future endeavors could launch.

SUMMIT SPORTS TRAINING CENTER…

Since early in 2002, Jesse has served Summit Sports Training Center in a number of different capacities.  Summit is widely recognized as one of the country’s top training centers, and attracts hundreds of Division I and Professional-level athletes each year.  Currently he fulfills Summit’s two most valuable outside contracts, serving as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for both the Philadelphia 76ers and Saint Joseph’sUniversity.  In addition, he oversees the sports performance training for Summit, in developing, updating, and implementing all of the cutting edge programs with the coaching staffs of the company’s 3 centers.  Prior to this role, Jesse served as Summit’s Director, responsible for all of the day-to-day operations, development, and programming for their facilities.  As the premier sports training center in the greater-Philadelphia area, this afforded him the opportunity to work directly with numerous high level clients.  This list includes members of the Philadelphia Flyers and Phantoms, Villanova University Football, Jameer Nelson (Orlando Magic), Aaron McKie (Los Angeles Lakers), Delonte West (Boston Celtics), Matt Carroll (Charlotte Bobcats) Bernard Hopkins (Former Middleweight Boxing Champion), Paul Healey (Colorado Avalanche), David Leneveu (Phoenix Coyotes),and Chris Lubanski (Kansas City Royals).  In addition, he was directly involved with designing and building 3 training centers, has coordinated numerous off-site speed / agility camps and strength clinics, and has presented to many young athletes and students on various topics involving exercise, health, and overall life success.
